Dane + Insanity = Dane-sanity!

Guess who did not ONE but TWO Insanity works out today?

.

..

Of course me, but also Dane!

We started with Cardio Abs and then sweated it out with Pure Cardio.  Afterward, we washed away our pain with a smooth 8 oz vanilla Spiru-tein protein shake.  Yum!

Since that was actually YESTERDAY’s workout, Cardio Power and Resistance is on the queue for tonight.  Yowch.

Valentine’s Day versus Four Hour Body AND Forty Minutes of Pain

You can probably guess what happened to the diet over Valentine’s Weekend.

So today came down to finishing the Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs that I skipped over along with a Fit Test.  FML so hard.

Beachbody Insanity, now Day 11

Review of Beachbody Insanity, in the midst of Week 2.

When I got Beachbody Insanity from Kevin Alviar, he told me that he was “scared to try it.”  Kevin had been going through P90X so I was surprised and intrigued to hear that.  To find more information about Insanity, I looked at the the promotional material that came with the DVD:

”You must check with your physician before starting this program.” “Check with your physician before starting.  That’s not a disclaimer.  We REALLY mean it.”

I was hooked.

With an easy-to-follow plan, Insanity sets the bar high from the beginning.  I took two tries just to complete the “Fit Test.”  All the aches and pains I feel now were accurately described in advance on the guide that can with the DVDs, including how you should be somewhat fit already to do Insanity, plus how the “warm-up” is a workout in itself for beginners.

In Month 2, the workouts get kicked up a notch…I hope I’ll be ready!  I may try some additional leg (speed and power), shoulder (press and hand stands), back (shrugs and pull-downs) and bicep (curls and pull-ups) exercises on the side to supplement the training I’m not getting in those areas.  Post back soon with more updates.

- BURNING THIGHS from sit-and-holds and pulses

- Tough on quads and glutes, but not so much on upper body

Beachbody Insanity

======================================================

I’ll update here and there with progress marks as I go through the work outs.  Beachbody Insanity is a nine-week work out with two “recovery” weeks built in.  Two pluses for Beachbody Insanity over P90x is that uses no equipment and lasts only 63 days.  I’m not sure how the results compare since P90x has a weight-training component, but I’m confident that I’m moving in the right direction.

MONDAY, January 31

Day 1: “Fit Test”

- did it solo before dinner

- eight exercises, a minute apiece with around a minute break in between each exercise

- i started too fast and got my kicked my butt so hard, I couldn’t even finish without taking a break for 20 minutes

- ran 2.8 miles later on to loosen muscles and open breathing

- ran around 4.6 miles on Sunday to gear up for this

======================================================

TUESDAY, February 1

Day 2: “Fit Test,” second attempt, Plyometric Cardio Circuit later on tonight

- did it with Michael about two hours after brunch

- paced myself much better and finished with minimal breaks

- weather dropped to 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit, so not running tonight

Addressing cheating

As everyone knows, I have been slacking on the 4 Hour Body low carb diet.  I’ll be the first to admit that I’m cheating.  EVERY.  SINGLE.  DAY.  Girl Scout cookies are the latest in the string of unapproved foods I’ve ingested.

I’ve decided that this is unacceptable.  Although I am maintaining my weight, I cannot neglect fitness.  I’ve been taking my hard-earned metabolism for granted and want to get back into the habit of exercise.

After running sporadically the last few weeks, my goal is kick cheating in the butt by exercising daily.  Getting on the Beachbody Insanity work out will force me to cut out sweets in order to survive.  The ultimatum of “eat right or die” seems like a compelling reason for me to stop sneaking treats on the side.

CHEAT DAY: YESSSSSS.

Weight fluctuation reduction strategy

Trying to reduce the amount of weight fluctuation all depends on timing.  To counter the fluctuation, I’m going to weigh myself for a week in the morning after using the bathroom.

In better news, I’ve been cheating every day and I’m still ball’n.  I’m going to start the Beach Body Insanity work out on Monday in addition to this diet to kick it up a notch.

I just resisted the ultimate tag team temptation of Girl Scout cookies and Lemon Icebox pie.
